The Commercial Photography Pathway will allow you to develop your skills through the application of both practical and theoretical photographic practice. Students will develop the skills they need via workshops, location shoots around the Poole and Bournemouth area, studio practice in our equipped dedicated photography studio and interaction specialist guest lecturers and experience a highly relevant and employable student training experience.
Focusing on the current expectations of the professional photographic industry to build a creative but highly work relevant portfolio, the photography course at North Light Centre aims to develop all the techniques and processes for commercial and creative success.
You will have the opportunity to explore the following key areas of photographic practice:
There is a standard studio fee charge of £130 that must be paid at the beginning of each academic year
The photography departments has a stock of DSLR's and Standard Zoom lenses that can be used for students photographic projects.
Students will be expected to provide their own learning materials such as notebooks, USB memory sticks, etc. Students may be required to pay for study trips.
Due to the large extent of digital images that will be taken by the student over the course of the pathway, Its recommended for students to invest in a external portable hard drive to keep their stock of digital images in their possession.

LEVEL 3 SUB/EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN ART AND DESIGN
Duration: 2 Years - Full Time
Awarding Body: BTEC/EDEXCEL
Entry Requirements: 4 GCSEs at grade C or above or successful completion of a full BTEC Level 2 qualification Art and Design (or a similar art-based qualification) with a minimum of a Merit grade plus a portfolio of recent art work. Enthusiasm for art and design is essential. You will be invited to attend an interview.
Additional Info: The BTEC Extended Diploma is equivalent to 3 A Levels. You will have access to the College’s virtual learning environment (moodle) which can be accessed from any computer with internet access (at home, libraries or College) to submit assignments, coursework and download course materials and handouts etc.
Course Contents: When you begin the course on your chosen pathway; you will complete the 1st year as a subsidiary diploma student, studying between 6 - 10 units, progressing in the 2nd year to the extended diploma programme studying a further 8 - 12 units to a total of 18 units to achieve the full qualification.
